sorry no pics as yet but in my endless seach for a r80/100 gs i have come across and r100r paris dakar converstion. Suspension mounts moved for greater travel, frame braced, yamaha xt600 forks, 44 litre fiberglass tank. Not asking loads for it and need a little tidying up. Whats the verdict. Avoid or go crazy?
additional: R100 engine and gear box but r80 final drive for greater tourque low down.(apparently)

does the conversion look professional.i.e not like a hack job. check the frame for cracks, just in case.(around the head and SW bolt holes). if the price is right then go for it, ...remember the heart of it is and airhead!!! she just has younger "legs" on her. may not be as slow off the road but a tranny gear can fix that. i am in the middle of building on my self.
pics would help if you can

cheers,
jim

The R100R is a paralever Bike whereas The Paris Dakar is a mono

I am not sure what you are describing

i havent seen it in a few years. i remembered a guy i knew had a bmw so i got in contact and he siad he was up for selling it. i said £2000 ball park budget and he said "come see it and we can negosiate", he said it looks tatty but runs sweet. He owns a succesful bike shop and breakers so i assume its mechanically sound. He said it was a harris job from the 80's. They took a r100 and made a kind of pd out of it but its not a gs. A parently the tank is fibreglass and holds 40l.!!! dont like the sound of fiberglass in case of accident cracking it open easier then metal. but then no rust. im gonna go and check it out, take some pictures.

How long is a piece of string when modding g/s's :rob
Mine has 1000 engine and Rt gearbox with monolever g/s final drive...twinned everything ( :augie )
Excellant ride...thinking of converting to marzocchi front paralever end :)

if its my old one it had a bit of a fuel leak at the back of the hpn tank where it mounted on the frame and I could not cure it. And i had made no change to the shock mounts

Bowsers' bike has a HPN/Acerbis tank on in that picture which is plastic not fibreglass.

I have also got a PD single seat and rack if it will fit the mono sub frame - then you will really have the full monty mixture
