It's nearly coming to that time when I need to replace the rear tyre of my GS.

However one thought has crossed my mind. How on earth can you balance the wheel with that great big hole in the middle of it? Doesn't seem to me that there is anything there to attach it to, or is it a case of using the equipment used to balance car wheels?

The balancing machine is fitted with a tapered mandrel to centre the wheel.

You might wish to check out this fellow. He makes excellent, reasonably priced balancers, and has an adapter plate for the R12GS.

Hey BW,

Are you the man that does the "moose avoidance testing" for two wheeled vehicles under European Union/DOT requirements?

Jock was visiting Canada for the first time and his Canadian cousin took him on a camping trip into the bush. On their way, a 900 lb bull moose stepped out of the forest onto the side of the road. "Look Jock! There's a Canadian moose." says the cousin...

"Och!" says Jock, "if yon's a moose, how big are the rats!?"
(old joke)

I'm not qualified to test ungulate avoidance, I couldn't even miss the small doe that jumped in front of me...
