can anyone advise weather it is necessary to balance wheels
after every tyre change. i am about to replace my rear and front tyre
i am comfortable doing it and would rather do so than pay my local
guy £60 to do it, advice welcome.:thumb

Robbie, I would say YES, especially the front. Jim Allen in Falkirk are way cheaper that £60 to fit and balance wheels......

Must be a north of the border thing, BikeTyresLeeds fitted, valved and balanced front and rear for the princely sum of £12 last Saturday - great service. First time I have asked them to fit some tyres that I had not bought there - they were part worn gifted to me. Would always go there for new ones as well, very competitive prices.

£60 to fit & balance 2 wheels.Thats taking the piss. Are you spoon fed caviar & crackers while you wait? or do they drive you to the hospital to have your arse stitched after such a fucking over?

Robbie, try the motorcycle workshop at the far side of East Calder. Changed the tyres and balanced the loose wheels of my GSXR for £10 a rim.

Do it yourself, tubeless tyres are easy! For less than the cost of two visits you can get yourself a decent set of levers, some rim protectors and a static balancer. You also get to shop online for your tyres and get the best deal so maybe one set would pay for itself.

Motorcycle Workshop East Calder, is just behind Peter Nixon car sales, the site of the former JET petrol station, just as you leave East Calder heading towards Edinburgh.

Always fitted my own (and a lot of other peoples) tyres only once had a problem and that was on a crossply on the front of a Suzuki GSX 1100 which needed balanced to cure a vibration.
Always worth checking the valve for perishing and if in doubt replacing it.
