Ive just taken delivery of a Zumo 660 and am entitled to a free map update within 60 days of switching it on.

Is anything likely to update on the next 60 days?

As im not using the bike much at the moment, is it worth leaving it in the box a month if a 2011.40 or 2012 update is due in say March or April?

Thanks.

Think you have just answered your own question ...

Garmin Product Support: 0808 238 0000 may be a place to ask?

Entitlement to receive up to 4 maps per year for your Garmin product. Not transferable to another person or product.

I bought it and you receive a product key which you register in MyGarmin. It was due a map upgrade and this worked OK. :thumb2

correct.

but

I feel that the words "life-time of the Unit" is a bit misleading - it should read "as long as we (Garmin) support the Unit".

I think if you read the small print on the Garmin website that it says something to that effect.

Here we are:
Garmin website said:
If you purchase a nüMaps Lifetime™ subscription (sold separately or bundled together with certain GPS models), you will receive up to four (4) map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on Garmin’s website, for one (1) compatible Garmin product until your product’s useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter

If Navteq pull the plug then that's it...

Can Mapsource actually be installed for a Zumo 660 owner with lifetime maps? I noticed that there are different options for the lifetime maps on my 276c and my Zumo (presumably Garmin have decided that as a result of the limited memory on the 276c, you should be able to load it on to MapSource) but there is no such option for the Zumo.

Not a problem for me as I can use the 276c download for my Zumo, but it doesn't seem very good for those who only have a Zumo?

Not sure what you're on about, the option to save to your PC is there on all Garmin mapping downloads. ISTR that there's an optional button at bottom left that says something like 'download options'. I used this a few days ago when applying 2012.1 mapping to my Nuvi 765.

Obviously any GPS with insufficient memory for the full update will get the options presented automatically, for those that do you have to seek and use that button. As mentioned two posts above by John A, it's not obvious and easy to fly by it.

I'm pretty sure that City Nav Lifetime Update cards sold by retailers as for Nuvi or Zumo etc are, in fact, all the same thing.
