Not trying to hijack here, honest, but I am looking for a hugger for my 07 GSA, are the Ilmberger huggers worth the extra £90 - £100 over cheaper ones, say the Machine Art Mud Sling.
I must admit when I see the photos of the Ilmberger fitted it does look neat and you do get what you pay for, have I answered my own question ??????????????

Different beasts. If your likely to use knobblier tyres then the mud sling is probably the better option. I've had a couple of ilmberger huggers with no problems fitting or in use, but I went for mud sling type protection on my last 1200. The best option, a 2nd hand ilmberger.
I was at SBW dealership at Hertford a few days ago and they had a couple of Ilmbeger carbon huggers that were on 'clearance' for £90 each. I seem to recall they could have been for 1150GS- definitely not 1200 or I would have had one - well worth a call.

...and they took it back off me as mine was advertised with a kit ( which it wasn't - if you see what I mean ) ..they paid a total of £22 in postage rather than send me a kit

After "um"ing and "ah"ing over the £200 hard earned for the last 2 weeks I decided to go for a Ilmberger Hugger, so, went on nippys last night and they have gone up £30
Rubber Car mats and some zip ties, Halfords here I come
Well, my Ilmberger hugger arrived from SBW the following day, and I've just fitted it.
What a superb bit of kit - the fit and finish are of a really high quality - looks almost like it was designed by BMW for the GS - they certainly wouldn't be able to improve on it.
Almost a shame it's rather hidden - that carbon fibre is drop dead gorgeous!!
Thanks for the recommendations, guys - well pleased.
