Hi All,
Any idea where I can get some of that white/red fluorescent tape (is it 3m/scotchlite?). I'm after the stuff they use on police cars or something similar to put on the panniers & topbox of my 1150GS. I'm sure most people will think it looks 'gay' :eek so I would like to be able to get it off (without damage!) when the time comes to change the bike.
I've searched the forum/google/asked a policeman chum, all to no avail.
Safe riding,

Try here. As well as coloured stuff they do the 3m sheets that appear black in daylight but reflect pretty well at night.

The stuff blends well with handguards, panniers and topboxes and does indeed avoid that "gay" look (sorry ocifer). :ymca

use of reflective tape

there are several threads on the site already. They are worth looking through regarding legality and use of white tape on the back of the bike.

You could always have reflective graphics to match your bike, see the graphics on these pannier boxes?

Well when subjected to direct light (camera flash-headlights etc.) they react like this.......

PM me if you're interested. :thumb

Google Glo Marka. Small company in Ilfracombe.

I used their 2" yellow and 1" red tape to put diagonal stripes on the back of the panniers of a K1100LT and an FJR when I was doing a motorway commute. It was very effective in keeping people away from my back wheel - especially when I wore a yellow jacket and a white helmet !!

Removed very easier and cleaned up with no trace.

as Kropotkin said, bikeseen.com... he sells the "police"blue from his website and also an ebay shop.

i put the blue scotchlite on my panniers, hand guards...and in strips on the back of my system 5 lid... also, on the chin bar, which a friend of mine says glows blue in the wingmirrors when his head light hits it

I personally use http://www.gallsuk.co.uk/
They do a variety of colours/ widths and lengths. I especially like the reflective black tape for the panniers - it's black under daylight but reflects white under headlights.
I would advise searching the American on-line catalogue at www.galls.com - search on Scotchlite and on the 3rd page you will find the 5' lengths. Once you've decided, ring the office in the UK and tell them what you want.
They are charming and helpful - shipment takes a couple of weeks if it's not in stock.

Search ebay/google for "SOLAS" tape. Or go to a yatch chandellers.

It's the stuff RAF pilots have on the top of their helmets - see it for miles....
