Tested TE yesterday, on return I told salesmen he had the easiest job in the world as I wasn't leaving until I'd bought one.

You need to choose colour & options he said. White with spokes please, I said. Like this one he said.

My brain froze, I even admitted that I virtually ridden to his door from the Portsmouth ferry after 3500 miles on my GS I wanted to PX that still had Moroccan dirt & TKC's fitted. I even showed him the dented exhaust where a bus driver forced me off the road!

On reflection I got fair price for old GS all things considered. But like a rabbit in headlights just nodded & signed.

Roll on Tuesday

We can all get carried away over a good bike, I always take the other half to keep me under control.......

Enjoy your new bike!

Many moons ago in my twenties I went on a sales course. (Good fun actually, learned alot and really enjoyed it ..). We were told this story after an afternoon of discussing how to close a sale ...

Avis (usa) are looking to add to their fleet of hire cars. There are two manufactures in with a shout - BMW and Mercedes.
BMW have already done their pitch to Mr Avis and now the head salesman for Merc is doing his. In the directors office on the top floor of some spandangled tower block, Mr Merc finishes his pitch to Mr Avis, he hands him the presenter at a side on angle (he doesn't slide it across the table - he does it in a way that Mr Avis has to actually grab hold of it and take it ..), and then he sits back. Nobody says a word. All Mr Avis has to do is sign the paper on the top. Nobody speaks.

For minutes ... there's silence, nobody wants to make the first move. Mr Avis mulls over the paperwork and the figures, Mr Merc sits quietly. (If Mr Merc closes this sale he's going to retire on a million bucks.... ).
Eventually ... in silence ... Mr Merc gets up, walks over to the window, opens the small louvered section and gets out his wallet. He slowly picks out ten dollar bills and starts dropping them out the window. Five ... six .... seven .... one at a time his Ten dollar bills float away in the wind.

'Damn it' says Mr Avis .... Frustrated that it's him who's eventually broken the silence ... 'What the hell are you doing ..?'
'I'm throwing away good money - and that's what you'll be doing if you don't sign that bloody contract ..'
'Ohhhhhh alright then .... where do I sign ... '

:beerjug:

(It's probably been massively exaggerated over the years .... :D)

I find not taking my wallet with me has the same effect :D

That doesn't work anymore, I went to a shop to make a major purchase but forgot my wallet. sadly I was able to remember all of my card details so that is how I paid, the salesment just punhced in all the details and the purcahse was done.

I've got my test ride booked tomorrow :thumb

No deal on purchase price but I've been offered £1000 more for my K1200GT than I paid for it :thumb2

On the salesmans desk was an order someone made and I clocked a 20% discount had been offered on accessories. So I asked what deal they can do me and they said 10%!!

I pointed at the order on the desk and said.... "I think you can do better than that!!" And they looked a bit sheepish :D

See what they say tomorrow :thumb
