Where did you put it, and how does it sound?

I got me an Autocom intercom and we tried it out with the unit in her pocket. After some initial messing about with settings it worked really good up to about 80 when wind noise triggers the VOX so, I thought I'd install it permanently on the R1200GS, plumbed to the accessory socket wiring (so the canbus can switch it on and off for me) and then mess with the mic booms later for best VOX etc...

Here are the questions (sorry if they've been asked before - I can't find it in a search)

The tool pocket / shelf is too small to accommodate the fag packet sixed control / amplifier unit underseat - so where did you fit yours?

There is no obvious place for me to fix the connector sockets to be easily plugged into. Where have you fitted yours.

The intercom sound is aircraft quality - any tips on how to stop my missus saying "cabin crew, doors to manual and cross check" everytime we start out? Do you think she'll grow out of it?

Spider,

I've got an older AutoComm Pro-M1 - it's a big bloody box compared to some of the new ones I've seen.

I was faced with the same problem as you, it wouldn't fit in the tool pocket.

So, I managed to squeeze it under the rear luggage deck (below the pillion seat).

I ran the pillion cable just from under the luggage deck and cable tied the plug to one of the bungee hooks under the pillion seat. The rider cable runs up to the front of the riders seat and just pokes out - it's all securely cable tied to the frame rails and doesn't move around at all.

Once you get everything plugged in (sat-nav, PMR, mp3 or whatever) and set your vox level you should never need to get to the main autocomm box again.

As for power, I just tapped into the rear acc. socket.

As for the missus, I fear it may already be too late for her buddy!

Thanks Lads.

I reckon the manual bracket fix would get the box wet so I'd need to bag it - then there's condensation etc etc :nenau

Under the luggage deck sounds good and I'll cable tie the sockets to frame points. :thumb

What to do with the IPOD and GPS leads? reckon I'll coil them into the bottom of ther tool holder tray and worry about them later.

Thanks again :beerjug:
