Having had to take petrol tank off the gs, using halford pipe clamps, it seems worth investigating buying a pair of those natty little pipe clamps that the BWM teknicains use, especially with a european trip coming up!
any ideas where they can be sourced? :)

Do a serach on quick release connections for your petrol lines, they'll enable you to take the tank off real easy with no spillage or clamps.

I've got a clamp from www.frost.co.uk under the 'brakes' tab for £4.50 (how much I hear you all shout !) but I think its worth it.

Cheers guys for a quick answer! I decided to go for the clamps ,doughboy suggested, as they are lots cheaper than the QD stuff, and for the number of times the tank has to come off (hopefully rare!) the clamps are just the job, plus I can lend them out if need be! :thumb :thumb

Try the local market's tool stall......

I have to clamp off boiler pipes a few times a week in commercial dishwashers.......they run at a couple of bar and use petrol pipe so I know this'll work on the GS too........

I use old surgical clampy tings that I got from a market stall.....easy to use, cost me a quid each...ask your local dentist or nurse practitioner and they'll probably find you one free ;)
