 Just noticed by hand protectors were wobbling a bit...yep the crap ones that were on the early R1200GS. However, the reason is this time that the whole bolt from the end has fallen out. And the metal bush too. Thankfully the bar end weight is still there.

I have checked the normal places for the part numbers (Realoem and A&S cycles) but there is a lot of confusion over part numbers. Has anyone else had to source this parts before? The only place that sells the bush seems to be in Germany (its 4 euros but 22 euros postage!!!).

One solution would be a set of the new hand protectors but at £90 that seems extreme for one bolt! And I am not sure the new hand protectors have the bolt anyway so I might be back at square one!!!!!!

Help!

Take the one out of the opposite side and visit your local 'nut, screws, washers and bolts' shop and ask them to match it.
Best of luck.

If I had the time and was working in the factory at work, I'd use the bush/washer from mine as a pattern and make you one on the lathe, unfortunately I am on the road all week so no chance of that.

Perhaps any other tossers here with a lathe at work could do the same ??

As for the bolt, surely your local BMW agent can sell them ? And if so, why not the bush??

With that kind of thought process, I am not entirely sure you fit in with BM's target demographic. :D ;)

Q-C my friend, when you have five BMW bikes in your garage, you soon learn to avoid the OE dealers and find other solutions, otherwise it's petrol/ferry ticket/beer tokens going to waste.....:thumb

Gipsiemagpie, if you're stuck for a bush, I have a small lathe in my shed, I can make a bush and supply a screw for you. I will need the bush dimensions and screw sizes (or samples sending).....
I'm away to Portugal tomorrow, but am back in UK on 3rd November, I can do it then if required. Send me PM if so.

Timpo.
