I have a crack in my 06 headlight lens. Probably from a stone on the freeway. Dealer says i have to order a whole new housing assembly. Does anyone have a glass lens replacement source?

Unfortunately it is a case of purchasing the complete unit as our dealer says. :(

Bad luck, mate. Always a good idea to buy a perspex headlight guard. Those replacement BMW lenses are bloody expensive, aren't they?

My dealer recommended I buy one for that very reason. I think it cost me £25.00 or so.

I know it's shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but might save you having the same thing happen again.

A crack alone is no reason to replace the cover. It's the water that pentrates that causes the damage. If you are handy, you can do the following: Buy a Cee Bailey protective cover. Carefully clean your existing glass cover and the cover side of the CB. Spread a bead of polyurethane glue (Seamgrip) around the edge. Duct tape the CB cover tightly to the light. Let dry for at least two days. Don't do it when it is too hot - the glue will run down over the lens. Cold is better. You now have a double lens and the water stays out.
Or you can pay the dealer for the replacement housing...
You can also buy a sheet of thin lexan and do the same thing.

And if you have aux lights, you just glue over the crack and ignore the main beam! :D
