I'm contemplating a few toys for my 1150 - a pair of extra lights are top of the list at present. I am vexed by the question of how/where to mount a switch. Ideally I want to rewire the stock headlights as per the US models and then use the standard headlight switch to switch the extra lights off/on with high-beam/always on. But that could end up being a tricky wiring job.

The alternative is.... well, I dunno! What elegant solutions have you guys effected? I'm dying to know.

PS If your solution is no more than a couple of wires twisted together, all wrapped in a well-used piece of chuddy, I'd rather not know!

Greg, check this out click here I posted it earlier :)

Right on - a clever piece of kit way lower in price than the alternatives - I saw one site trying to sell the whole switch assembly with this mod for £300 odd yesterday!

I followed Paul's link to the light set up thingo but I then followed the tank bag set up link and couldn't believe the wonderfully simple tank bag rack set up that they also sell.

Has anyone else ever heard of them?

Mick.

The AutoSwitch appears to be truly excellent - and not a stick of chewing gum in sight!

I already have one on order!

No it hasn't arrived yet - and I have a sneaky suspicion that they haven't debited my credit card either. I'll pop them an e-mail today and find out what's happening.

Fred,
I fitted mine a few months ago. A piece of whats'it to fit.

I mounted it under the tank just behind the Black (silver actualy) Box, and used Scotch lock conectors to link into the correct wiring.

oop's I lied, I didn't fit it behind the Black Box, I strapped it to the wiring harness just above the Black/Silver Box.

If the turn signal cancel button is held for between 1.8 to 2.8 seconds it switches the lights either on or off.

A small LED mounted between the clocks lets you know when the lights are on.

I traded e-mails with CycloActive today - it appears that my order fell into a crack in their system. I now hope to have the part in a couple of weeks.

Paul, your lead on this and the photos are most helpful. I'm indebted.

No porblem Greg, if you need any advice on fitting you know where I am.

My Autoswitch arrived on Saturday having been posted on Wednesday via Global Priority Mail at a cost of $9.00. Total cost $33.95.

Incidentally, their web page specifies a button press of between 0.8 and 1.8 seconds and the installation instructions specifies over 1.2 but under 80 seconds. Who is right?

No problem at all. When you press the turn signal cancell button all you are doing in effect is earthing the circuit.

By holding it for the 1.8 - 2.8 seconds it activates the Auto Switch and so switches the auxillary lights on.

I've been away for a couple of weeks, but my AutoSwitch arrived just before I went away having been sent by CycloActive's cheapest service and arriving in 4 days.

I haven't fitted the switch yet as I'm still busy making a lamp bar (I couldn't afford or justify the price of the Zan-z-Bar item) and I have yet to find a suitable relay (I spent hours of my holiday looking in Canadian Tire - an excellent store, but out of stock on relays).

StreetPilot mount

On the Cyclegadget website there was a trick looking mount for the StreetPilot, has anyone on the list used it or seen one in the flesh?? I think the Touratech unit is a bit pricey but maybe you get what you pay for?? I finally plumped for the StreetPilot colour by the way (£370 brand new with Mapsource disks for Europe included and a 64Meg memory stick for £80). I hope to test it this weekend on my visit to Skye.

Any thoughts....
