Same place. Different angle. Familiar hills?

And who was that I saw on a 12GS, with a fluoro green top, about ten minutes after I'd taken that last photo? Anyone here?

Well done SitC ...

Sarky git that you are! ;) Tarnent it is. Home of George McNeill, winner of the Powderhall Sprint in 1970 and still 120 yards world record holder. I think he played for Hibs at one time which is why he could only run professionally.

So where's the other places then?

I seen Mr Mc neil at a speakers night with Jim Leishman, he was very good.Big leish was excellent as well. Was over that way today at a wedding in Dalhousie castle (dear hole).Good photees cheers Big Jets.

first pic is tranent then the archway at pathead and then two photos from the edgehead, whitehill road looking out over the forth and Edinburgh, bike would hardly be warmed up by then

Seem to remember that George played a couple of trial games for Barrow Rugby League around '71. I know Mike Murray and Bob Weir (Barrow RL wingers) used to enter the Powderhall sprint as well. Isn't it a handicap race?

Cheers,

Neil.

Give the man a coconut!

Spot on. The bridge at Pathhead / Ford is a Telford bridge. Thomas that is. The design is very like the Dean Bridge in Edinburgh. Like most engineers, I assume he saw no point in inventing different solutions for similar problems.

The road south from there is on the line the old Dere Street through Edgehead aka (Roman) Camphill. I used to do plug chops on an old Norton 99 there. Flat out, chin on the tank etc. Happy days!

I dunno, kids today....

Thomas Telford was a relative of my late mother, you know. Born in Eskdalemuir. Thomas Telford that is, not my late mother, she was born in Langholm.

I thought you'd all like to know that.....:)

Old enough to know. Wise enough to keep schtum!

The Domi cost me all of £35. The Tiger Cub I sold to pay for it fetched exactly the same. The illegal pints of heavy or, more likely, lager and lime :thedummy cost less than two bob. Work it out for yourself.

mmm

I got a nice Tiger 90 in exchange for an A35 van.
Bike was actually a Tiger 90'd 21 but was nice just the same - my only Triumph.
Loads o' Beaaza's Vinnies and tha rest not forgettin' the best of them all .........
The Velocette. My first was a '66 Thruxton ,later I built from scratch a MSS.
Lovely bikes,lovely biscuits.
