Escaped for the day on bike as home alone for the week, Anyone recognise this? Last one took a bit of offroading to get to, wasn't intentional just that the road kept getting smaller until it eventually turned into a goats path. What a great day, wondering where to go tomorrow. Both shots taken only a few miles apart.

Ahakista Air India Plane Disaster Memorial

Spot on, just outside Ahakista. I'd never been down there before. I was watching a documentary about the disaster about a month ago and saw footage of the body of a young boy being lifted into a helicopter having been recovered from the sea, you could see his face and I just felt so sad about the whole thing that I just wanted to go there and spend some time there to think about the whole event and the people involved.

Stopped off at Kilcrohane for excellent sandwiches and went on to explore sheeps head ( for the off road bit, with my panniers I must have seemed a bit bizarre to the couple of hill walkers I came across:D )and the rest of the peninsula before making a dash to Kinsale/Garretstown.

wow.. breath-taking spot that..

must go down and have a look at that monument at some stage, only watched the prog on RTE about that not too long ago..

Richie - what's the correct pronounciation of "Allihies"?

Cheers,

Neil.

Hi Neil, Just back...

Now phonetic "al ee hees" should be fairly close to the pronunciation...:aidan

My two day trip turned into 24 hours 165 Miles, lovely riding great porter and food. Stayed in Union hall in seascape Bed and Breakfast if anyone wants a recommendation:thumb

Great views looking across at your part of the country Richie. Weather permitting and if all jobs done I might turn the wheels towards Allihies on Friday.

Cheers for the hospitality Richie. Left home with a full tank at 10 and 358km later arrived back at 9PM just a mile after going on to reserve. Soaked uploads of scenery, too much to see in one day, deserves a two day trip with one whole day dedicated to the Beara . Lovely countryside. I'll be back.:aidan
