I am looking at two 2007 GS1200 bikes to buy. They are both priced very close and both only have 1,500 Km on them.

One has cast alloy rims an dth eother spoke wheels... What is the difference between the two bikes? is it just the rims?

Yeah - just the wheels.

If there is no other difference in the bikes - I would go for the spoked wheels.

They should be more robust (and easier to keep clean)

Spoked wheels IMO look better on the GS. Worth checking that the spoked one doesn't have servo brakes. Spoked wheels are a PITA to keep clean, alloy's are a lot easier.

Yep go for spokes. They are an extra cost option from new, more robust and look the nuts.

If you dont keep em clean tho and get the salt off they do tend to show a little corrosion where the spokes enter the rim.

Spokes on mine were the deciding factor to buy it!

John, no servo's on the '07 GS's.
Aside from that, buy the moto with spokes.

+1

Go with spokes. not everyone paid extra for spokes in 2007. They had manufacturing problems with the alloy wheels in Jun and July I think. So spoked bikes where the standard price. I got one.:bounce1. As previously said. No servos.

Path.

Buy the red one. Red ones are faster.

Sorry... The spokes are on the yellow bike :blast

Sorry about the pictures... they won't show.

I thought one of the bikes might have been an Adventure... I'll let you know how it truns out.

just to make it more complicated a new bike was listed for sale: 2008 Blue spoke-wheel GS1200

So now I have three options:

2007 Red with alloy wheels GS1200 $20,500
2007 Yellow with spoke wheels GS1200 $19,000
2008 Blue with spoke wheels GS1200 $22,000

And I can't decide mainly between the Yellow & Blue bikes... Is the 2008 worth the $3,000?
