Hello! Just bought a 2006 GS1200 with expandable luggage which is otherwise in standard form. Are the winglets a good idea and if so what else would be deemed a must have? Thanks very much.:beerjug:

Stebel Nautilis horn; money well spent!

I would be interested to know if the head protectors did as good a job as engine bars may do. What type of impact did your head (the bike's:rolleyes:) receive?

I managed to pre-empt the situation enough to get enough of a handful of front brake before it went really nasty. More of a minor slide after a drop really.

I will try and get some photos taken and post them up on here. The cylinder head protector got a couple of deep goudges in it and the rest was a bit of gravel rash on the surface. The crash bar (upper left) got a bit of gravel rash, but only very minor. You'd have to look hard to spot it on the upper crash bar to be honest.

Equal first mod

Engine bars and/or HID's

Mine were H&B's and eventually Les' 35 watters.

Oh and petrol lots of it.

Total waste of money: Only thing that sounds the horn on my bike is the tank bag on full lock....

:rob

Maybe the low population and traffic density way up in Northumberland makes a horn superfluous, but in most of the rest of the northern hemisphere they're considered pretty useful. A really loud one like the nautilus is more effective than the weedy moped sound of the original, hence money well spent. :comfort

Ha! That was great, didn't know what to expect from first contact, going back to Europe next year, continuing battle field tours, two up. Never had a BMW before but caved in after trying my mate BOXER CUP. If you can't beat them join them! I asked the qeustion because there seems so much stuff and figured out crashbars, soptlights, radguard. Already got Acroprovic of however the feck you spell it, plus expanding luggage.:rob

Battlefield tours + 1! The only problem is, like any motorcycle touring, they're more than a bit addictive.
