I bashed off my bashplate (F800GS) so need to buy another. The previous was the factory fit plastic one. I do a lot of off road riding, so will need something strong.

I have already search the previous threads, but they are just so polluted by other info on crash bars and other protectors, etc.

So which is strong / value for money... (anyone broken / bent any of these?).

- SW-MoTech £130 (approx)
- TouraTech £87
- Metal Mule £145
- Adventure Spec £145
- BMW Enduro £(waiting on price)

Any others worth looking at?

I was told that BMW only do a 'large bash plate', its not called Enduro anymore.. but please fire the order code for that at me! I'd prefer the Enduro bashplate myself.:bounce1

Adventure Spec

I would definately have to say that the Adventure spec is one of the better options if you tend to go offroad quite a bit. The BMW one does cover a bit more, ie the cat converter but definately not as strong according to comments from other GSers.:augie

Hope this helps :thumb

I have the BMW one; it has seen some off roading a good few times and has not faltered yet. Another thing to remember is the protection to the oil filter, a stone through an oil filter is not fun when you have to wait for assistance in the fecking pouring rain! Following on though, the AS plate sounds like the one to get. I have their crash bars and they are a good bit of kit!

I'm happy with the Motech...

AS stuff wasn't easily available to me when I purchased my SW Motech crash bars and bashplate. I'm happy with both, and they've both been thoroughly tested (if you catch my drift). :augie

I walloped a curb fairly hard, and when I looked at the bashplate, all the rubber mounts were stretched backwards about a centimeter. I took the plate off, and found it was slightly deformed from the impact. A couple of raps with a hammer, and it fit fine again. YMMV :D

i have the bmw one and would swap it for the AS one any day o' the week. good choice sir!

Adventure-Spec! It's really a no-brainer when you see it side by side with others. The BMW one is especially awful - just look at the (non)welds on the inside of the plate - zero penetration in lots of places equals cracks in the joins pretty soon.
