OK, so the in Scotland bit is a little red herring but if there is an local knowledge, much appreciated.

I really fancy doing some off road but as fairly new to bikes in general don't know where to start.

I rode a Yamaha 450 off road, but on forestry commission type tracks in Malaga. I have heard that is really too big and a 250 should be max.

I would also like it to be road legal as I have permission to use a local farmers land.

I have been in contact with a local enduro organiser who said make sure it is not a MX as their exhausts are too loud for enduro.

Would appreciate any advice and pitfalls pointed out. Oh and I would like to keep the cost below £2000, below £1500 even better.

Not too much to ask for then:rolleyes:

I used to use a Yamaha DT 125 (unrestricted) with full knoblies for my off roading down in Englandshire....like a push bike only quicker.....:D

When I moved up to the family seat, I sold it as there are very few places to play off road...

I did manage to get into a great set of Forestry tracks on the north side of Loch Tay a few years ago... but it was a one off that we were lucky to have got away with.

We got stopped by the Boys in Blue later that day...I asked if there were any 'Green Lanes' they could recommend....as I said, I've sold it as there ain't any.....:D

You need to find a friendly land owner, but.....they seem to be a bit like rockin 'orse pooh though...;)
