Which BMW white paint colour is used for the R1200GS SE and the Rallye? I assume it's probably the same as one of the car issue colours, but rather than gloss "alpine" white which is non-metalic, is it metallic/micatalic like the other GS colours? Anyone know the actual paint code?

I'm planning to have a set of panels painted and retain my various grey ones as originals .... yes I know the fastest GS's are always grey but the whole bike started grey/grey/grey and it was, er, just very grey! I've already done the big side panels in sapphire black and they look very good :thumb2

It should be alpinweiss 300 non-metallic as far as I know, best is to check with a stealer.

Just painted the white section of the hand guards on my Rallye. I used BMW Alpine White and it's not the right colour, more creamy white than the brilliant white of the rest of the bike. Did you get a better match?

I was in Cotswold BMW today and they have a white GS (60 plate I think!) where the previous owner painted the side panels white. Defo not the right white! As you say - more creamy than the anniversary models.

What's the difference between Alpine White and Alpine White 300?

BMW have been using Alpine white since the 80s and loads of shades. Check the paint code, usuallu under seat on frame, and you can get an exact match from most paint suppliers.
Did you know the old 1150GSA in silver is called white aluminium:blast

Thanks for the info paintman ... I guess paint is your business!

I've already had the panels painted .... in Ford white , I think "Polar white" or "Frozen white" can't recall exactly. I visited my usual paint guy and we opened all the tins of paint he had in his cabinet to try to use one he already had in stock - keeps the cost down! The nearest one to the BMW white was the Ford colour .... which is remarkably blue/grey when in the tin. He suggested using it, to be changed if it didn't look right.

I wasn't matching any other panels and it looked good, so stayed with it :thumb2 Also he'd already painted the big side panels ('06 bike) in BMW Sapphire black and the black white contrast looks good with the brilliance of the Ford white. Bit of added bling from Humvee and very pleased with the result.

I have found an issue though ..... one morning on the way into work I called at a local supermarket. As I was getting back on the bike a woman was walking past with her small dog which decided it was going to bark at me ... she turned to it and said "don't bark at the nice Policeman" :blast Helmet's white as well!

Bike looks great Bobbinman, the gloss black really sets off the white. How's about posting a pic of the entire bike?

Audi seem to have a very bright white that might be a better match than the Alpine White Halfords spray that I bought, though I didn't realise there was more than one Alpine White.

Apologies for the naff phone-quality picture!
