Having talk talk for 18 months I am now free to dump them and their s***t sevice and find a supplier who provides a decent basic level of service!!

I also need to find another phone package supplier, as TT conned me into taking their broadband by offeing it "free" with phone deal....it was never actually free but thats another story!

So who is offering the best deal overall??
no fancy download speeds, no jargon etc etc who do you recomend??
thanks

I have never had a problem with BT Broadband, Its the devil you know and I dont think they are that dear anymore.

Oh and they pay my wages.

I have been to hell and back on this one. Pipex are utterly disgusting in all respects. Tiscali only slightly less so.

That said, they are all equally as good/shite so long as it all works fine. if it's doesn't, they will shaft you royally, and blame BT anyway, as untimately, it's all their kit - so you may as well use BT, so at least you can get things mended.

That said - BT are awful too, and their prices are a joke.

I am now using 3G wireless - it's spot on, mobile and bypasses all the phone/BT crap completely. £15 a month for 3Gb - 20 for 5.

I note that T-mobile are now using the same system (even the exact same modem thingy) at £20 for unlimited. I'd strongly advise you to check it out - and save the universe load of crap I had to put up with for 19 months odd!

I agree...funny thing is I rang them on Saturday to get my MAC details - I'm also shopping around now as my contract with BT is at an end. Soon as I asked for the MAC code, the guy offered to chop £9/month from my bill - I'm not really bothered by cost alone, I want a good reliable service foremost.

He then went on to tap away at his keyboard, trying to find other ways to reduce my charges......

For now I'm not sure whether to try someone else or not - grass always does look greener, but BT haven't been that bad for me.:duno

Talk shite Talk

Talk Talk promised me free broad band over a year ago, still none, did offer it to me for £10 a month, but so pissed at being duped, reluctant to change, as also heard TT's service is crap, hang on a minuet do I sense a recurring theme here? :augie:mcgun:nono:mcgun:augie

Oh yes - forgot about tw@t tw@t. Ended up threatening to sue them, after they provided no service, blocked my line, and them took unauthorised payments from my account and refused to refund them. Avoid at all costs.

Fab if you like a call centre in Durban, full of idiot liars, as opposed to to usual Calcutta though.

I have been with NTL/Virgin Media for 5 years and never had a problem. You are guaranteed a download speed unlike ADSL where depending on how far from the exchange you are depends on your speed

For the love of your bike, don't touch anything by 186k or their subsidiaries (e.g. ezeeDSL).

Plusnet is good. It offers no frills which is important to me as I use Linux and cannot tolerate any intervening software. It's also owned by BT so you get decent backup for your physical lines without having to have the 'added value' tripe.

My megabytes worth:

I was with pipex for years and the early years were fine but some years down the line customer service collapsed from my perspective, followed by bungled upgrades complete with overcharging and then when I moved the company was unable to provide any flexibility in providing a service term, despite my wanting to retain my original package.

I moved to zen after ten years and the difference in customer support was startling, I was/am a valued customer who is listened too and not treated as a numpty by corporate geeks.

My recommendation: check out zen and customer satisfaction reports.

I have just signed up to Virgin media 8meg [ADSL] only a tenner a month was with Nildram who were excellent just expensive [£25 for 2 meg] . I have noticed since swapping web pages are loading slower [ones with big picture content] but Iv made the swap so in a years time might be looking again. So if moneys not an issue Nildram could be for you.
