G'day,

My first technical question on the site. I'm looking at engine bars for my 1200GS and would like to know which ones give access for servicing without having to remove them. Wunderlich states their bars allow easy access, however, does anyone know if SW Motech and H&B bars are the same? Or do you have to remove them for servicing?

From what I've been told, getting the cylinder heads off is not the issue, but putting them back on. :nenau

Any advice appreciated. :thumb

Bob

I would be careful Bob if looking for engine bars that give you access to the rocker covers without removing the bars. A friend has recently had a bad accident due to his engine bars touching down while he was cornering. I think they were Motech but I remember they stuck out quite a distance from the rocker cover.

I was told my HB bars gave access - but Coopers had to remove them.

When i collected the bike they said "have you dropped the bike sir?" :D :D :D "once or twice" i replied.

it seems they were a bit 'adjusted' and had to be removed. :D

Oi Pipein you aint got any friends and in fact there was only one person who 'touched down ' and had a 'bad accident' and that was you mate :hapybnce:

H&B it is

Thanks all, it seems the H&B bars are a good option and they are also the cheapest (from Motobins). Fortunately!
I didn't get a price on the Wunderlich bars, but all the others (including SW Motech) were more expensive. Cheers, Bob

Hi Pipen, my 1200 went to *ill last week for a service Paul told me that someone had come off after Motech bars had touched down. My bike has these, he also pointed out that they charge extra if the bars have to be removed during the service.
