Which GPS mount for my 2650 and "enthusiastic" riding on a pogo?

As the title really, I'm wanting to put my 2650 onto my XChallenge, however i'm a bit concerned that the RAM mount that i have won't be up to holding everything still while i'm riding.

What other options are there? or do i have to go the route of making something myself?

Assuming you mean a Garmin 2650. I have a 2720 which has the same mount fitting and have tried three mounting brackets, all fitted to the bike via RAM handlebar mount.

- Garmin m/c mount. Works OK but the little locking screw is fiddly to use, the Torq head wears and if its not locked up tight can vibrate loose and the satnav falls off (as I found to my cost but Garmin replaced the satnav FOC).

- RAM bracket. Works OK and I still use it in trucks with a RAM windscreen mount (my car has the dinky dashboard mount but as a drive different trucks most days it impractical to stick a mount to the dash). I don't use it on the bike any more, mainly as it's awkward to remove the satnav from it every time the bike is left and there is no docking system for the satnav cable when the satnav is not installed.

- Touratech mount. Ugly and expensive but in my opinion it's the one to go for. I use it with a RAM mount on the left bar. The satnav is 100% secure, whether or not I use the key lock - rarely do), it's quick and easy to fit/remove the satnav, it has anti-vibration fittings and a holder for the cable when the satnav is not fitted. Also the little fitted stylus is useful to tap screen with gloves on.

I agree - for this application a Touratech is the only way to go.
