Having bought the HP end can, I am now considering the Headers.....

Do most put the Akra headers with the HP Akra Can??

I thought I read somewhere that some use the Remus headers with the Akra can....

Why is this???????

Thanks

If your bike is new I'd seriously put some miles on the bike first to iron out that your bike is problem free (hopefully it is) reason i say this when i took my bike in to my dealer due to several problems, they had to speak to BMW UK tech whom asked me several questions about the akro headers and if its been mapped !! I was informed that BMW UK advised me to remove the headers and put back to stock otherwise if they felt the headers had contributed to any issues they would void the warranty, and put a marker on the bike.

I could not take a chance as the bike was flawed so removed the headers and just left the akro can fitted.

Had Remus headers with akro end can on my 09 GSA. Lovely :-)

Quite how headers can cause issues with engine and then warranty are beyond me.

Whereas changing the mapping can.

On my WC GSA I have stuck with stock headers and put an SC Project end can on which is half the price of an Akro.

The WC runs lean so popping on overrun is disappointin. Popping on Hexhead was lovely.

.

Non stock headers will make it run very lean as i saw on the Dyno, and in the event you got serious with BMW they would use the fitting of non recommended parts as a get out of jail card, trust me after the last 2 WC bikes i know how they play.

But this was BMW HQ telling me its advisable to revert back to stock, i was not taking any chances either with em pulling the plug so was easier and less hassle to remove em.

Yes you can mix and match.
The previous posts make a fair point and if you are happy with the bike leave it be.
However, I went with the full akro setup as helps smooth out the crap BMW fueling.
The akra headers are, as always, beautifully made and will easily resell when you next change bike.

How do the headers change the fuelling?

Removel of the Cat but IMO it will make a marginal change to fueling on its own.

I'm going through the same thing with my KTM; it's already got a can and DNA filter with no re-map but I'm thinking of getting the Cat cut out rather than the expense of new headers. If I do that I'll get the bike re-mapped for peace of mind. It may well be ok from a 'lean' point of view? but the re-map should make it a nicer ride all round.

With my old 1200, when I replaced the headers and Pipe (Bos) I fitted a Wunderlich fuel controller for the same reason.

If you mean mechanically, I haven't a clue.
If you mean how does it feel, well, Much smoother and you can trickle around at lower revs with no bother or ride through town at 2000rpm in dynamic with no snatching.
A friend of mine has one of the first GS LCs in the country and thinks the bike is great and by sept last year had put 20,000mls. I tried to explain to him about the benefits of the Akra headers, his reply of 'my bike is fine' did not hold for long after he rode mine. He now has Akra headers.
Find someone with some fitted to their bike and blag a go.

I've got Remus on mine with Akra. I preferred look of the Remus (less visible welds) but I don't think there is any noticeable difference in performance between them. My dealer supplied and fitted mine too and gave me a better deal to anything I could find online :thumb2
