Hi One and All,

Looking for some advise/opinion, I am considering buying a new helmet, looking at Arai Tour X or a BMW Enduro helmet. Ignoring the correct fit arguement for the moment, looking for your opinions and experiences on both. Also where's the best places to buy?

Cheers

Peat

From what ive seen thru work personally I would go for the Tour X anyday. The BM lids looks very plasticy if you know what I mean and look cheaper. I know the BM lids in newer but I fit more of the Tour X's sp this might mean something its hard to say

I bought a Tour X about 18 months ago.
Probably worn it about 18 times I like my Shoei better, think I've just got a Shoei head. :nenau
Think Oonyack has the new BMW one and prefers it to the Tour X. He has both. Give him a shout.

Try them both on. One may not fit you and then you have your answer :thumb2

....is the best advice. My Tour X is comfier than a very comfy thing. I tried the BMW lid on in the dealers and found that it was anything but comfortable for me.

Tour X got my vote too.

Just look closely at the construction and the decision is made for itself ;)

Tour X gets my vote also, its a cracking helmet.

I bought a BMW Enduro a few weeks ago. I tried the Tour-X as well but the BMW fitted better. That said, it also feels a lot lighter than the Arai which is a bonus.
The BMW is certainly cheaper but you wouldn't know it without looking at the price tag. The build quality is excellent and so far i can only find one fault with it. The chin strap is too long! Maybe i can cut i shorter.....
I've been an Arai man for many years, but having the BMW now has certainly changed my mind.

Thanks for the response, going to try both on tommorrow, so we'll see!!

Thanks for all your posts, tried both on yesterday, bmw enduro nice lid, nice fit but arai have it, better fit better quality with the support which bmw didn't seem to have with their helmets. I suppose it comes dowm to oncw you've tried arai you never go back!!! now the owner of a black tour x.

Sorry to jump in, but has anyone fitted an autocom headset (mainly for bike to bike communication) to any of these lids and suffered any problems ? thanks

Hi, autocom headset fitted to new helmet, no probs, take your time with the fitting and you shall reap the rewards.

Just one more question, have you had any problems with wind noise etc as the chin guard is a bit more exposed compared to a normal road helmet.

Tour X gets my vote also, its a cracking helmet.

Tommo, after taking a little look at this thread, and seeing your picture, i couldn't help seeing a cable!!

is this your Autocom?? - if so, did you have a problem putting it in?? seems as though the bulk of the cable pushes the cheek pad out, Im not sure if i should cut a little piece of the styrene out if you know what i mean...

how did you get on??

Reavsie!:bounce1

There are a number of replies on here supporting the Arai, but I have had no pleasure out of mine at all. I am riding a gs12 and with the stock screen, the wind noise and buffetting were very bad. I test rode a ktm 950 while wearing it and it was just as bad. In the finish, after trying Tobinators and every screen position available, I bought a Wunderlich Ergo screen. Now, at least the ride is bearable. But I only use the Arai if I'm offroad, otherwise I wear a Shoei. I have also found the Arai to be less than comfortable, despite some modification to the polystyrene. I guess I just have a Shoei head.
