Hello

Welcome to the site. Use the search button and look for similar questions.

The bottom line is there is no right answer. depends on your circumstances, budget, ridiing style, height:rolleyes: and plans. Roughly speaking the adventure is better for long distances, touring, two up and over rough terrain. The GS is better for people who stay on the road more, commute and don't have botomless pockets:D. Having said that you can do long distances on a standard GS and commute on a GSA.

Think about what you want the bike for and take the best candidates out for long test rides (2 hours minimum). Try them on lots of different roads and see which one gives the biggest smile.

Niether will disappoint. They are just different.

Path.

I was recently in the same dilemma. I had a 955i tiger and decided to change it for the GS.

You need to test ride both like I did to get a feel for which suits you best.

I found the basic GS no better than the tiger for wind buffeting and it was slower.

But the GSA was a completley differnt bike.

There was no competition, I went for the GSA. I only got the comfort pack which made it affordable and the extras over the standard GS good value.

The truth

In reality there is not a great deal of difference, one from the other. I doubt if many buy the Adventure because of the extra fuel it can carry or the minor differences in gear ratios, etc;. There is no doubt in my mind that just as an 'ordinary' GS looks very impressive beside (say) a 1200R, the Adventure looks even more impressive against the basic model. That is why tmost of those who can afford it and are rich enough (and tall enough) buy the Adventure.
