Looking at getting a PDA and would like to get a GPS to go with it for the car.

Have been looking at the Ipaq 4150 and 550 with a TOM TOM 3 GPS package. I don't have any experience with PDA's and would like any comments from people who have them.

Should I only look at the HP ones are there others that are better, should I pay more and get the 5550 over the 4150, if so what benefits would I get?

Sent PM re one I have for sale.

Not sold with satnav back but it is high spec.

XDA II

Hi Andy,

Got an XDA II Feb this year and like yourself I was interested in a palm computer. The XDA II has all the functionality of a computer (Palm) plus the advantage it is also a phone. If you go for one of O2s free minute tariffs you can get the unit significantly cheaper than a stand alone IPAC palm computer. It uses GPRS to access the internet and email has a music player and also a digital movie and still camera built in. It also takes Tom Tom II navigator. Check it out, I am delighted with mine.

Andy,

if you're considering an XDA, I'd not recommend the XDA I very highly - I don't know much about the XDA II, but from ALte's post it sounds like a great advance on the XDA I.

It's a good PDA, but a pretty crap phone - it's not tri-band and, even in the UK, my mate's budget mobile was getting a signal when my XDA had none (same service provider). Just a word of caution, as the XDA I will probably be offered at a discount with the advent of the XDA II...

My XDA is pants......no, it's doggy doos.......really really crap....seriously, i hate it......

I don't even bother charging it up any more.......

It's sexy looking but it's rubbish.

Have I mentioned that I don't like it much????

How's that for a balanced impartial and considered post?

My mate bought a:

HP & TOMTOM 2210 for £299 from Dixon.

PC World are selling them as well, check the website www.pcworld.co.uk

Better be quick though as offer ends today.

HTH

seriously considering the 5450 thats up for sale, this will give me a higher spec machine than a 4150, save me £85, which means I can get the TomTom 3 with GPS for about £185 - total outlay under £400. Don't have to worry about getting an inbuilt sat nav for the new car and get all the functions of the PDA - very handy.
