Thermarest3, regular.

I'm 6"3, 19st.

I've had one for a year and its been brilliant!
Get a repair kit as its sortof rubbish without the air inside!

Regards,

Gareth.

Thermarest ProLite 4 works suits my needs and with a 2 season down bag worked OK in the North of Denmark last November (I have a BMI of 24 so I cannot say that too many pies keeps me warm!) Hunt around and you will pick it up for about half the price of an Exped and unless you are into serious stuff it is more than enough IMHO.

Also spend some money on a good camping pillow, Vaude or similar - makes a huge difference.

I have used my thermorest for 14 years and it's great...........now living in the US you can get them for about $40US but recently I bought an airbed from Walmart for $4.99............and its bloody fabulous!!

As light as my thermorest, but packs smaller - (though I do have a very small air blower) but whilst I thought the thermorest did give good performance I was always rolling off it - no more, this cheepo airbed is 3' wide and 6'6" long and a good 8" thick!

I can recommend the prolite 4 as well. I got mine from the states from this guy. He marked it as a 'gift' and I paid no tax.

I think people fall into the trap of thinking warmer is better - Too many people buy '4 season' this and '5 season' that to camp in Derbyshire in May - nice in principle but if it is genuine 4 season gear you will cook. My Thermarest is one of the things I just use and forget, a handy tip if you are going to take someone else is get the Thermarest linking system or whatever it is called - it is a pair of figure 8 ribbons made of the same material as the Thermarest that allow two mattresses to be connected together - this means they don't slide apart in the night.

Again I cannot stress too much how important a good pillow is (well for me at least) It is the difference between an average and good nights sleep.

Therma Rest a Good thing but..?

:thumb2 I took a Thermarest to the Antartic twice. Used same one for years of Bike Rallies. Wore it out! So found the newer Nodule type for Lighter smaller packing? Rubbish!! Just went a Brought a standard again. Light weight not as Comfortable. Try them at the shop! 3/4 0ne is good too. I trired other Brands not as good and Comfy. Jim 6'4" 110kilos. :nenau.

Don't make the mistake of getting one which is too thin. If you're a heavy/bony type and sleep on your side the hip bone is prone to getting very uncomfortable as it can come into direct contact with the ground.

Thermarests

Dont for get that they recommned that you blow it up a bit by mouth to suit your weight, a few puffs make a real difference.
