Hi Guys,

Can I have recommendations for a set of tyres for 1200GSA, also where to get them from in Hampshire. Most of my riding is on the road but occasionally would like to go off-road.

Cheers

Try Micheldever tyres, good stock and quality fitting.

Michelin Pilot Road

In the thread:

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88152

The Tyre that scores best in both the wet and dry tests is the Michelin Pilot Road, the 'write-ups mention the Anakee and T66

The Michelin wed-site only gives 2 options i.e. Anakee and Pilot Road (is Pilot Road = T66?).

Looking at the 'scores' in the thread and tread pattern, for a 'road orientated GS', the Pilot Road would seem to be the answer.

Does anyone have experience with the Michelin Pilot Roads?

My GSA came with Anakees.

I'm very impressed with them and will replace like with like unless something better appears in the next year.

I had Anakees fitted to mine, and when they needed replacing, I was gonna fit the same again, however when i popped into Micheldever the Anakees were out of stock, so I bought Battlewings instead, a bit expensive at £204 for the pair fitted. But the handling of the bike is transformed now, no more whitelining, much more eager to turn in and holds its line well, they seem good in the wet, in fact they feel like the 020's I had fitted on the gs's but have an on/off road tread if you fancy a dry green lane or two, mud? :nono :D

Don't know, but I'll be more than happy if I get 7500 miles out of mine.

The most I've ever got out of a tyre was about 5000 on my KTM 950 wearing Pirelli Scorpions. And bikes like KTM Duke totally shagged rear at 1900 miles !!!

My rear Anakee was close at 6700 when i changed it, the front wouldn't have lasted till a new rear was knackered so I changed them both :nenau

My rear Anakee is about shot at 4000 miles (1200GSA) the front won't last for the life of another rear, the tyres haven't "squared off" and have worn very evenly-a legacy of living in Wales and a touring the Picos perhaps  but I'll be fitting a pair of Tourance or Battlewings in the New Year.
Anakee's have been great in the dry but don't inspire the same confidence as Tourance in the wet, plus I always manage 5-6000 from a rear tourance and generally make the front last for as long as 2 rears.

Battlewings

Ty,
On the Italian Job in September, I had Battlewings on my 12. They had already done the Ring of Kerry  and did Los Picos afterwards - a lot of high speed road miles along with commuting to/from work more than 5k on now and they aren't squared and have plenty of tread left. Will probably replace with same.
