Yeah,

It's me again. Still looking'...

(Ive kinda gone off the R80/R100/ PD / Ohlins concoction from the previous thread. Too much work and I doubt I'd ever get in registered here in Switzerland..so the search goes on)

Given the choice of an airhead (Same age, same price i.e < 3000 Euros)

First : R100 PD - 40K miles, General oxidization on headers/ Wheels, scratches here and there - Just bog standard...

or

Two : R100 "bumble bee" GS enduro - 110K miles. Owned by "enthusiast" who wants it to go to enthusiast. Imaculate. Shiny headers, exhaust. No corrosion that can be seen. Looks completely original. Possibly full service history (or at least fully maintained by said owner..)

Would the milage of the second one put you off ?

(I know I keep going on about this...sorry...)

Go for the lowest mileage, best condition bike you can get your hands on.

My 100PD has 85k on it now and to be honest it's just about bolloxed. The bores are almost on their wear limit and the valves/guides need replacing.

Unless somebody can give you evidence that the barrels have been replaced/re nickasiled and the engine works been carried out I'd give a high mileage bike a miss other wise your going to end up with a hefty bill to sort it out.

I'm probably looking at £1000 to sort mine out so I'll be chucking it in the back of the garage for a while.

Apart from the engine, every part on the bike has done big miles and will have worn/deteriorated accordingly which means more $$$.
