"White boxed"

John,
My daughter is selling "white boxed" 550's via www.lings.com for £350 and she tells me that they are as new.
They come with everthing wrapped as if new.
I am guessing that it's a way of selling off stock.
She will sell a white box 550 to GSers for (I think) £325.
Mary.hyde@lings.com or look on the web site for her number.
Be sure to mention UKgser and if you do buy one and are pleased with you purchase, please write to her to that effect.
She needs ammo for a rise.
Been there 4 years and only got 16p in that time:spitfire

Mike.

Mine for £340 delivered seems to do what it should, not that I would know the difference.:thumb2

Mike, if the price is good (I wouldn't know) would you not post details (much the same as above) in the "Spotted a Deal" section/forum ? It couldn't do your daughters job any harm and others 9on here would get cheaper a GPS.

Or to put it another way, would you buy a 2 year old Zumo if it didn't have the original ie Garmin box?
Yes, provided it looked good and the price was fair. The units seem fairly indestructable (relatively speaking).

Guess it's a lot like the parallel bikes of the 90's. Massive savings on new bikes and not such a great difference come selling time. Although some dealers didn't seem to want to touch them at all.

White Box

The units never left the factory.. its most likely from previous experience to be earlier/outdated firmware which then goes thru again to get updated and so you get the white box version .. all are new .. with new bits inside box, same as printed case version. Read and compare web vendors spec or offering.

These were being offered around, some resellers went for them, others deemed not much a saving between white box vs printed box version. Zumo 5xx MRP also increased by £30 recently, which may be your only choice soon.

Both come with 1 year product warranty.

i spoke with Grmin UK about the white box versions - they are units that have been returned as being defective, they are then repaired, re boxed and then sold on at a discount. they can t be sold as new as they are obviously not but they do come with a 12 month warranty, he also said that sometimes the units do have very minor blemishes on them.

DING DING. :hide

I suppose it doesn't really matter since the warranty covers 12 months.

Mike.

Just to say I got my 550 from Lings (- not the white boxed variety) and thought the service was excellent and the price was entirely fair. Recommended! :beerjug:

Would you buy from a company that describes the units as "Newely Overauled" :augie

errrrrr.....no!

Have just ordered a brand new 550 from Amazon for £360, just £20 more than Pentagon's white-boxed "newely overauled" version.
