I'm heading out from Paris on Thursday (have a must-attend dinner the night before, if not, DIVORCE).

Will be meeting up in Munich on thursday evening with Advrider BoxerBoy.

Anybody else going, and if so, where do we meet up ?? (my 1st time there, so don't know the meetup spots).

WE ARE!!.............
Sorry, that is myself and two fellow BMW pilots will be landing on french soil on Thursday afternoon then staying overnight at the formula 1 at Reims before proceding to Garmisch the next morning.

OK. I was actually planning to go a bit further. I've dropped the idea of going to Munich that night, since I'd be wrecked for Friday. I think I'll stop in Strasbourg for the night.

Any idea how we're going to hook up. I've read in another thread that there are some other UKGSers going.....

Guess we need to meeting point and time. Suggetions ??

Whenever and wherever you want, big boy! :D But you won't be a Pat's on Thursday, so I guess you'll be in Garmisch by Friday afternoon, at the latest... Call my mobile when you arrive. And BY NOW you know who I am...

Will be there!

Just booked my Eurotunnel ticket for Wednesday morning. Should get to Garmisch on Thursday. Riding with a few others that are customers of the same dealer.

On the way back, they are going for a one day ride back home. I am thinking of staying in France on the 4th and catch the train on 5th. Any suggestions on routes back, or where is a nice spot to stay overnight in France (en route back to Calais for train).

Loads of great routes. YoYo and myself are going to play inthe Alpes first before heading back to France. I've never done this trip, YoYo has, so maybe he can give you some routes to take. There is ofcourse the route that leads you to GS paradise:- the Touratech factory !!!

We should meet up in Garmisch..

That's a great suggestion!

Where is the Touratech factory? Is there an equivalent for Wunderluch? Great idea that.

As for meeting up at Garmisch, sure thing. Not been to this event before so not sure what is the best way to meet up. I will be staying in a hotel called the Obermuhle. I think it's a Best Western hotel, or was one when I was there a few years ago.

Heaps of choices, it depends on how far you want to drive on the 5th. The Black Forest / Alsace areas springs to mind, else the Burgundy area, (Dijon, Beaune).

Touratech is in Niedereschach, just on the eastern side of the Black Forest. Wunderlich has just moved, they are in the industrial zone of Sinzig, south of Cologne. Both areas are quite nice to ride!

A good compromise might also be to stay overnight in Trier, it's in Germany rather than France, but it's a nice Roman town, with good local wines to boot. About halfway between Touratech and Wunderlich as well... :D

Mike/YoYo,

Thanks for the suggestions. Will buy some maps over the weekend. At the moment, I haven't a clue about where all your suggested places are

Will probably post on Monday after looking at maps to see what will work. The point of going back on the 5th rather than 4th is to break up the ride back. Don't really fancy 700 miles in a day .

So what days will you be in Garmisch?

Prolly arrive on Friday, not too early, but not too late, as we need to find a spot for pitching the tent...:hammer

Leaving on Sunday, and running for the mountains!
