Why can't BMW be more flexible

I've just picked up new Lupin Blue 1200GS yesterday and just as I thought a standard seat with lowered suspension would have been spot on for me. Instead I had to order it with the low seat (give me a break), what's the big deal, surely it's simple enough. Now I'm going to have to fork put for a new standard seat after already paying out for the new bike.

Tim at Lind I hope you are taking note of this.

Also I forgot how pathetic the standard GS screen is, GSA screen should be offered as a reasonably priced option, not as another extra cost afterwards.
I can list a few others but not got time at moment.
 
I bet if you'd said "I'm not buying the bike unless I can have a GSA screen and standard height seat in with the deal" or I'm not buying the bike you would have got your wish :augie

Take the bike back and get a refund. It's obviously a piece of shit and it should be built just for you and your requirements. Tim at Linds have had you over and never eben had the grace to use vaseline:thumb

I don't understand, why did you have to order it with the low seat? Surely the standard seat comes as standard, and the low seat (or high seat) is optional? :nenau Why on earth did you accept a bike with a seat you didn't want?

As for the screen, the GSA screen isn't actually an option for the GS, people just tend to put them on themselves. But it's not part of the options list for a GS as far as I'm aware. If the price concerns you why not go for the cheaper Givi screen or something?

Unfortunately BMW do charge the earth for their parts/accessories, but it's no good making a deal on the bike and then moaning about how much the extras are I'm afraid.

Why didn't you just buy one of the blinged up, low mileage 1200's that appear on the FS&W section with some regularity...

Then you'd have paid a lot less & got a lot more :augie

Givi Screen at @ £140 is 1/3rd the cost of a GSA screen upgrade, or take your pick from the myriad of other third party screens.

I guess BMW offer a "low option" that includes seat and suspension, instead of three offerings for slightly short, quite short and very short people.

The bike already has two positions for the seat and overall I think a good job is done in catering for most people with this and the short option.

I bet you would easily find someone willing to swap a stock seat for the short one, I would have asked the dealer if he could get a standard seat and then xchange it for the one arriving with your bike, or just flog it on E-Bay.

I did not like stock seat on mine so got a spare pair secondhand and sent them to Tony Archer.

Someone complaining of not enough options from BMW is quite rare :confused:

Unfortunately JonnyBoxer bikes don't come off the production line second hand fully blinged up. So you be grateful there are mugs out there like me who lose thousands in depreciation just so people like you can take full advantage
