Why doesn't my hyperlink thingy work?

On my new PC running Firefox I can't get the hyperlink button on a message reply to work. When I click the button I get the "text" box but when I OK that I don't get the dialog box that allows me to enter the URL.

I'm sure it's something to do with pop-ups but I've got them enabled for ukgser.com.

Any ideas?

I get the same Dick... but only intermittently.. sometimes (probably mostly) it works fine.. other times it does as you describe. I then may have to retry it several times before it surrenders.

Mine doesn't either ...hasn't since the last firefox update.

I went through it with Paul and we couldn't find a reason.....so I'm living with it :nenau

On refection (now it seems it is something to do with Firefox and not my own PC settings) I might re-install an earlier version to see if that cures it.

:)

That may be it. I havn't updated Firefox since I installed it a year or so ago. I've got a blanket ban on pop-ups as well.

This may not make a lot of sense, but here goes.

1) Copy the required URL into the paste buffer using CTRL-C

2) At the point in the post you want the link, click on the Insert Hyperlink symbol and enter the text you want to use

3) DO NOT click OK, but press return

4) Use CTRL-V to paste the link into the resulting dialog box

5) Again DO NOT click OK, but press return

Well, it works for me :confused and here is a link to prove it

Iain

P.S. I'm using Firefox V1.5

The bit I don't understand is why it's intermittent for me... I'd expect it to either work all the time or fail all the time.

Nope....doesn't work for me Ian......as soon as I press return (or hit ok, it's the same) the text box dissapears and it drops me back to the reply box without giving me the option of entering the URL.

Are you on 1.0.7 Bill? Works fine for me.

There you go, ya see. All this new fangled technologomy. You should have stuck to 1.0.7 like Steve and me :dabone :dabone :dabone

P.S. Steve - are you the Steve that sent me the 1150 workshop disk? I tried to say 'thank you' and 'i owe you a pint' and ' I bunged some money to TITS' but the threads all got lost in one of BHT's outages and you didn't put your name on the envelope so I couldn't!! So if it was you - thanks! :thumb

I'm so pleased it's not just me :D

I must try Iain's suggestion when I'm a little mopre sobre :D

Hmmm. Don't press OK, use return and hopefully get a link here. Blimey it works. Thanks Iain. :thumb

I'm on 1.5 as well.
