Why is the rear light such a shite design anyone know a fix ?

If you are looking for a very cheap fix....

Solder some leads onto the actually bulb (do a couple of extra bulbs as well). If I remember you will need 3 leads with male spade connectors.

Pull the wiring off the rusty connectors on the taillight and connect to the leads you have soldered to the bulb.

Ran like this for a couple of years until I found a cheap replacement light.

Thanks for advice I could easily have rearranged it with a large hammer it pissed me off that much !

I made up a shield using a plastic milk bottle which helped when I had my 2007 GS after the problems I had with my 05 model!
