Hi all
Hope somebody can help,Im looking to replace my 08 factory lowered 1200 gs with a new standard height triple black 1200 with esa,I am thinking of having the suspension units replaced with the wilburs from Revs Racing in the midlands,Questions, If the bike is lowered by 35mm will it affect the ground clearance dramatically for cornering etc and what about the side and centrestands ? What are Revs like to deal with ?Thanks in anticipation.

Cheers

Wilbers do a shock set for ESA, but I thought ESA on factory lowered bike wasn't an option?
How was you going to lower it?

Yes, Yes, Yes to Wilbers by the way! :thumb

Definetely recommend Wilbers and Revs :thumb

Once you have quality suspension you do not really need ESA to start with ;)

Isn't it partly to do with ESA having the ability to tailor the bike to a variety of different road conditions, not just a narrow range?

My old bike came with 'em already fitted . . never adjusted them for anything, they just work straight out the tin.:thumb

Handy if you regularly swap between solo and two up otherwise I find that Wilbers cope better than standard ESA over different road types.
ESA is just trying to mask the short comings of budget suspension at a £650 premium ;)

i adjust my wilbers for passenger and luggage, that's it. still miles better than any OEM suspended GS i've ridden.

Paul S is bang on in his posts above.

Wilburs

Thanks all, bod thanks for your input but I'm selling a factory lowered gs and then buying a triple black standard height gs with esa, now question was all about the possible issues of ground clearance with a height reduction of 35mm and about the quality of said wilburs, everything I've read regarding wilburs to date is very positive.
Thanks again for all responses

Yes, but the better quality of decent aftermarket suspension works over a wider range to start with, my setup feels much more taught and agile than an ESA bike in sport mode, yet soaks up bumps as well as the ESA bike in normal mode - all on my "base" settings

I only really adjust it when I add a passenger or know I am going to be on predominantly rough roads (where again I sort of get the bump obsorbtion of the comfort mode with the handling of normal mode)

If your constantly swapping terrain / adding passengers and can't be arsed to spend 30 seconds moving an adjuster or two then ESA wins, but for me riding on a variety of A / B Unclassified roads I can go for Weeks (or even Months) without the need to fiddle and only adjusted the suspension for one road on my 3,000 mile Alps trip.
