Folks..

I've just bought a bike for my son and its in Aberdeen. Whats your views on the road conditions for coming up from Cumbria on Sunday. I was going to stick to the M74 then over to the A90.

I'll have a look at the weather forecasts, I just wondered if you guys think they passable or still snowbound in some areas.
I'll be with trailer.....

Do-able or a bad idea...?

No probs this weekend George. A90 is clear and problems on M74 are gone. Roadworks at Cumbernauld but should be ok at the weekend. :thumb

I went on the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow today and the roads were clear but there's a lot of slush around and thje shit kicked up by lorries was horrendeous even with the car wipers on double speed. I'd inagine further north might still be a bit snowobund but main roads might be similar to the M8.

I never saw one bike either direction.

Na Bother.

You will get there na bother. Shame you didnt ask him to bring it down a bit even to Forfar. Would have saved you hrs man.:flag

Great info there and website.......thanks for that

Might try and get him to bring it part way....will talk to him tomorrow.

05:00 start Sunday it is then....:thumb2

Wish I had one of those folding bike trailers now...

I'd avoid the A80 even at the weekend due to the road works and miles of 40mph with cameras.

I'd go east on the M8 and then over the Forth Bridge to -> M90 ->A90.

Yeah, but. If it gets windy then it can become a bit of a faff. The roadworks are about 8 miles long and as long as no one breaks down / it snows etc etc you loose less than 10 mins.

BTW the A90 from Dundee has a speed camera about every 5 miles and near Lawrencekirk, there's a 50 limit with a camera each way. This is why:
