I have the Hepco and Becker Gobi panniers (plastic not metal) and nick has just fitted my Remus revolution exhaust.
Thing is I am wondering if I need to fix some of the heatshield stuff that you can also buy from Motorworks so as to prevent my panniers becomin too hot so causing damage, didnt need it before with the standard exhaust and cant recall if it were as close, can anyone advise, see pics:

Looking at those pictures I'd say you should be alright H, although if you can get some heatshield worth the money it would do no harm. . :)

Getting geared up for Wales then?

To be sure

I'd put a shield there just in case.

I had to change my number plate for a metal one with a revolution 'cos the plastic one melted - would be a shame if the sideways fumes melted the pannier / heated up the frame enough.....

When I had the BM plastic system panniers I never had a problem with heat transfer, only ever had a problem at the end corner which got melted. Got some insulation after that and IIRC it's going adhesive on the back. I used aluminium tape to seal the edges as I wasn't convinced about how well the insulation was sticking and if the airflow would peel it away. Didn't have the exhaust attachment and the problem occured with a y-piece and BM end can  Never had a problem after that :)

Some extra information in these posts: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1976357 which in the main concern the BM system panniers.

fit the heat shield if you are not sure i have h&b juniors and a remus no problems and looking at the pictures it looks in the same position,
btw what are the gobi panniers like i like the look of them??

Aidan, yes, once Nick's panniers have arrived we should be ready for Wales, well the bikes will be anyway :augie

g.s. john, I find these panniers easy to put on and off the bike, although they feel heavy to carry dont notice it once on. They are double skinned, quite roomy although you would not fit a helmet in them. I think they look good and the rack is solid too, matches my crash bars so when the panniers are not on it all blends in together.

No fear, mate.

Gobis are standard fit to KTMs which are far, far hotter bikes than GSs even with aftermarket cans. Those panniers will be fine.

Not too sure about the rest of the bike, though... :D

Would advise upgrade to orange all round

Ah you mean like this one :

:D

Re the ktm, bro in law has the 990adv with these panniers but his pipes come out higher up, underneath the seat I do believe. I will just have to go out for a ride with the pans on and see how it goes, see if its worth investing in the heatshield stuff, cheers all :)

Luv !

I think i can see you have a Cat in place. This would suggest that you
will be OK.
When using a remus its pretty much straight thru , so i would reckon to be safe
you should use a Stainless Deflector at a Minimum . The foil is only of any use
if you dont need it. I wouldnt take the Chance with plastic panniers.

Little Beemer those pictures of your disgustingly clean bikes are offensive to my poor eyes!!
Cant you do something about it. :beerjug:

Were a bit different last wk Stig, nicks is still in need of a wash I just sneaked in last wk one evening and done mine :D
