I have a 1150GSA with the lowered seat, and a non-standard screen, picture attached. I have noticed a bit of buffeting and I wondered if this is normal, or if there is a solution. I am 6'2".

Is there a rider out there of my hight with the standard screen or, a higher aftermarket screen that does not experience buffeting?

Or is the answer to go to the standard hight seat that would put my head up into clearer air??
Best regards
James

Hi James, if you put "Buffeting" into the search engine along the top you can spend hours ;) working out what to do.. everyone's different and some don't experience problems at all, while some are driven mad by it....

Plenty of answers here... I've got a GSA with a low seat but am 5'10... Just had a new System 5 helmet, and the airflow seems ALOT smoother than with the old Shoei Synchrotec

It may sound counter-intuitive but the trick seems to be to get air to flow under the screen.

The simplest way to do that is with Tobinators (a wonderful piece of kit designed by Tobers, available from several sources).

The problem I found then was that the standard Adventure screen is a bit too flexible. The wobbles became so annoying that I replaced the screen with a thicker one (yours looks like a CeeBailey screen so you are halfway there).

All in all not a cheap solution but certainly one that I don't regret.

tobinators, worked for me

Thanks for the hint, I have not done a decent long run on the bike yet so I will see if I get used to it and have a look into the Tobinators.
Many thanks
James

6'3", removing the screen altogether completely removes the buffeting for me but means hanging on over 70.

Tobinators + ZTechnik = excellent

Lots of previous threads on this topic. First and foremost - Tobinators. If that's not enough, consider a taller screen to push the air over the top of your helmet. I tried a Laminar Lip (worked a bit), Touratech spoiler (hopeless, expensive and looks crap) and finally settled on a Z-Technik tall screen. Works a treat for me (6'2"), either with regular or low seat:

MRA does it for me.....6' BTW...

MRA Vario does it for me too. I'm 6'2" and I find that the middle angle setting with the lowest screen position works for me:thumb . I tries it on the middle and highest setting and had buffeting.

CoolCarbon - that is looking veeery nice indeed.

Couple of questions - how adjustable is the MRA screen and why have you got two wheelbarrows ?

To answer the irrelevant one first....three positions for the whole screen and a further three for the top half of the screen....

As for the 2 barrows....I'm ambidexterous so can shift shit with both hands....:D

I'm 6' and could not ride over 70mph with the low seat. Standard height seat - not perfect but OK for 700 mile motorway days, cruising at 100 mph+ (on the autobahn)

GSA Tall Screen

I had a low seat and standard screen but at 6 02" found that my legs were a bit cramped. So I purchased a taller GSA screen from Skidmarx at Weymouth, Dorset. Found this a lot better and have just completed a 2000 mile round trip to Poland with no problems. Screen only cost £50 which was a bonus.

tobinators

Try them, they really work!I spent a small fortune on other stuff and none of it worked.Thet will give you very clean, almost still air for your GS.

........ and finally settled on a Z-Technik tall screen. Works a treat for me (6'2"), :

Hi Banjaxed, do you carry a pillion? - just wondering what the airflow is is like for the pillion.

I'm 6'4" and can't quite get the bike right with Tobinators (even though they are fantastic), when it's good for me she's getting bounced around on the back. So I've been looking at a different screen (Ztechnic) but don't want to spend the cash without some form of indication that it will make a difference.

Gotta try and keep er indoors happy

Cheers

Hi Dave

The ZTechnik Z2240 (taller one) works a treat - and the pillion has no problem at all. Now to be fair, she's the pillion from heaven - no jumping around, no banging helmets, etc., but if she had a problem with turbulence from the screen, she'd let me know.

Once again, the basis is Tobinators and then adjust the screen to suit - takes a few trips, but eventually you'll find the sweet spot. As I've mentioned before, the extra height of the screen means the instrument binnacle/screen does flex more than you'd get with a standard screen, but after thousands of miles, everything is still there!

I can't guarantee a good result for you, but this is one very satisfied customer...

Good luck!
