Windows XP Proffesional

I have recently put a CD writer in my PC with an older version of Adaptec Easy CD Creator (Ver4). My PC didn't like it and the online upgrades only appear to be for Ver 5 and above. I did the usual uninstall but I keep getting an error message everytime I boot up about disabled drivers and Windows Media Player won't run properly anymore.

I believe with XP P{roffesional I can go back to reload the PC as it was before I installed Adaptec and it will restore all the old settings.

Can anyone tell me if I will loose all my files if I do this as I have since saved alot of digital photos from {Prague and don't want to loose them.

Any help/advice appreciated.

I have the XP Home edition and I never lose Photo's or files when I "go back".

I would presume 'Professional' would do the same...............?

You certainly won't lose any data files Andy. So your pics or other documents are perfectly safe.

The System Restore option only does a rollback of drivers and system files, it leaves other files alone.

So you can try that without a problem, don't worry.

Had a problem years ago when there was a driver conflict with my computer and a cd writer.
I had to remove the Adaptec Easy CD Creator and driver re-installed
The other driver it conflicted with.
It was Adaptec that was causing the prob.
Easy solution.... install Nero and away it went no probs

Same thing here Adeptec wont run, now using Nero, shame as I prefer Adaptec,( That should start an argument).

And system restore doesnt alter any documents.

ps. adaptec (as was) software has been branded as roxio for some time.
