Hi Folks,

I thought that the standard screen was just causing too much buffeting, so swapped to the larger Nippy Norman one and it deffinetly does the job but maybe too much as if it rains or is warm you end up sticking your head out to the side. So any suggestions on a half way house?? Im 6"2 if that is of any help.

Cheers
Mark

The standard screen can be raised higher than it was designed to by filing off the little black plastic tabs on the adjuster that stop it going too high (one on each side).
Not sure if this will help you but have heard somewhere that it can. This mod will not adversely affect the operation of the screen adjusters so there's nothing to lose.

You don't say if it's a GS or GSA. I have a GS tc and have fitted a Givi AirFlow 330 with Nippy's winglets the difference is amazing compared to the stock screen. I can ride at over 80 ( on a private road of course ) with my flip top up , no buffeting at all. I'm 5' 10" ,the best mod for me.

I have the standard GS screen at the moment but i am definately a A330 man. (Broke mine in a small off and looking for another), However, i am 5'11 and have kept adjusting the standard screen which i have fitted with Tobinators and have come to the conclusion that the sreen at a fair angle is way better than straight up. So, in my opinion higher is not always better. At 5'r you should be able to get a good rake on the standard and still be very comfortabe.

+1 givi airflow. Fantastic bit of kit so good I'm buying another one due to bird strike at the weekend :blast

I'm 5'8" and have the Givi 330 with Wunderlich Vario mounts. Some Tobinators would be my suggestion for someone taller.
I like it leaning back ( high front low back) with the slider on a low setting.

Hey Rocket, which part of yours is broken? I am looking for the bottom section so if your top section is broken i would be happy to do a deal:aidan

It's the bottom bit that's fooked on mine so we are both in the same shit creek, Sorry fella
Bright side is I've got a spare top bit in case some pikey runs of with my new one ....

Well that's the way! I took out two ducks about two years back - one hit the headlight and screen and left shit evrywhere and the other hit me full in the face at 60 mph. Both the screen and my Arai visor survived the ordeal (after being cleaned up) but i suffered whiplash. The screen was the standard GS screen so it proved quite hardy!
Have you found any deals on the Givi? I bought my last one from Italy and was about 20 quid cheaper than anywhere here even with postage!

Fookin hell just whiplash I think you did ok there at that speed ,I was just going up the gears maybe 40 when I hit.
I've just ordered me a 330 from nippys and some replacment winglets and then I've sourced a second hand indicator from
The wanted section .
I maybe would of looked at buying from Italy if I hadn't been in a bit of a hurry to get it ready for a ride at the weekend ,motostorm .it is one of my faves .......:thumb2
Why are the birds striking? Is it to do with wages?
Yes I think they are striking ,it's something to do with hours......:augie

I found that GSA winglets + GSA screen + Touratec screen extender worked well to the extent I could ride at 50 - 60 with my visor open.
Only down side is the cost unless you can find 2nd hand.

I had a TT extender with my GSA and it did help reduce turbulence but the sweet spot is very narrow and in wet or cold weather there's not enough airflow to stop the visor misting up. I wear glasses so opening the visor more than 1/4" lets in water so not a great idea.

Tobinators and tilting the screen right back will also help but its never going to solve the air flow problem. Air has to get behind the screen somehow. Its that air thumping in from the left or the right that causes turbulence. The Givi allows enough air to blow through the screen to stop problem yet still reduces wind pressure and wind noise. I have mine of short vario mounts from Wunderlich.

Just to show how personal this is, I find the standard screen ok. It's even better with the low seat and I'm using this over winter as spray misses my visor, which it doesn't with the standard seat. I'm 5'10. I did used to have a Tiger 955 and the screen on that was a real piece of work, absolutely anything you did to it was an improvement so maybe I have low standards?

And just to show how proper awkward I are, I find the standard seat really comfortable.
