hi guys

i bought my A80 with ptt and headset a while back and done nothing with them.

ive just purchased a Starcom 1 Intercom module only and need to get the right cables.

does anyone know which cable i need to connect the A80 to the Starcom 1?

can i use the PTT and Headset directly attached to the A80 or do i have to buy the starcom ones and attach them to the starcom module?

im only interested in bike-to-bike comms so dont need anything else like the mobile cable etc.

any help much appreciated!

Thanks

if only interested in Bike to bike you don't need the Starcom unit

When you say you have the A80 with PTT and headset where these all bought together from Intaride ? If so you should have everything you need to be up and running ?

yeh the PTT and headset were all from intaride bought as a package, i just wanted the starcom for voice better quality, it was cheap so thought i might give it a go.

just needed to know what cable to use from the starcom to the A80 plus if needed to buy the PTT and headset from starcom or could i use the PTT and headset attached directly to the A80 :)

you'll not get better voice quality by going through the Starcom, it's only going to be as good as the signal going in.

whats the issue with the quality at the moment ? I use this set up at the moment and find the voice quality very good

If it's a bit crackly clean the 'Pro' plugs a quick wipe with wire wool does the trick, I also find wit the 'Pro' set up it's best not the Pro socket fixed to anything let it hang loose

If you getting a regular ticking noise this'll be interference off the bike and is probably caused by the way you have install the cabling onto the bike ?

ahh i see, i didnt realise that, tbh sound quality is good, but i thought the starcom would make it better at higher speeds.

so i guess the starcom is only good if i intend to use different devices like mp3 and sat nav?

thanks for the info mate

you'll find putting the volume up full will make the A80 audible with earplugs in upto about 80 clearly, faster than 80 it does start to struggle a bit but to be honest at those speeds I'm not wanting to chat to anybody but concentrate on what I'm doing :)

This is what I find using a TourX with the speakers roughly in the correct position but behind the padding and I use foam earplugs all the time.

If you find it quite it maybe worth looking at speaker position as this does make a huge difference

for future reference the cable needed to connect the Wintec A80 to the Starcom is CAB-02S, not advertised on their site but can still be ordered by email.

You will also need the PTT as well or you'll be stuck with VOX only, a PITA if you sing while riding:blast
