Today was a beautiful winter's day, not cold - but dry and Yorkshire was bathed in blue skies and sunshine

So I decided to slip away after lunch and do a few trails and see if the XR was all ok now, after new jets and a carb ultrasound clean ..............it was

Set off from home and filled up @ Thirsk, to do some trails in around the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire White Horse

The trails were drying nicely, but with the right amount of squelch to keep things interesting

Next was Rievaulx - today was a day of old ruined Cistercian Abbeys too

Pretty thatched cottage - Rievaulx is one of my favourite villages in Ryedale, totally unspoilt in a land that time forgot

On towards Helmsley for a quick tea in the square - saw 4 or 5 GS's out and about

After a warming up in Helmsley the next destination was in the direction of Ampleforth to do a few trails - one or two new to me

So..................50 miles, with a bit of history, some beautiful countryside, a few trails on a grand sunny winter's day with glorious views

Life doesn't come much better

You're a lucky boy JB. I'd give my back teeth for a little green laner and miles and miles of byways on my doorstep... :thumb

Thanks, all within 10-15 miles of the doorstep this afternoon - we're very lucky to have deserted byways and such rich history to go with it - the achitecture was stunning today

There are byways round here, but not the miles and miles of tracks that yorkshire seems to be blessed with. I'm lucky that I can get my rocks off on a wr450 at work, (and go places other than just byways..) and i've gotta say I just love it. I'd get a pogo tomorrow if I had the room and money !! :thumb2

Look JB, lets get this straight, will ya stop posting these 'ride reports' of yours 'cos you just get folks all kinda upset and envious

Don't ya realise that some people have to go to work and all you're doing is winding them up ;)

Beautiful territory, super photographs, great motorcycling, now feck off back to work will ya :JB

:beerjug:

Nice day out JB......

Remind me, who was it getting quite abusive about Sven filming himself coming off on that rough road because he was 'riding solo'?? :augie

There are some green lanes in Kent Giles......we used to ride a circuit of about 30 miles with maybe 5-6 miles of lanes based out of Eynesford a few years back, including a nice muddy climb up the downs towards Wrotham.

The trf or a good study session on Google and the online OS maps will help find them, and a 250 laner capable bike won't set you back more than a grand :thumb2

It was me and that was Svengali:augie

I go out regularly on my own, doing lanes well known to me for 20 years & quite often I prefer it solo................however I do go on a bike that matches my skills (mainly) and is either 1/3 or 1/2 of the weight of Svengali's GSA

Even so..............things can still go wrong, but generally when I'm alone - i'm not pushing the envelope
