Winter trail riding kit

I like trail riding in the winter but I had a heavy off a couple of weeks back on an icy track. Whilst nursing my bruises I've been thinking about some better armour and more waterproof clothing.

I'm thinking Klim (jacket, trousers and gloves) and Forcefield armour. Anyone any experience of these or any suggestions as to other good gear.

I have T-Pro Forcefield armoured shorts, which I wear under leathers or my BMW Summer 2 trousers. Excellent fit, comfy ... bit bulky though (I have the four-layer armour) so you need to try them on under your gear.

I haven't put them to the test, but they feel as if they would offer excellent impact protection: the armour doesn't budge and the garment is very well made.
