Wireless help

Up till yesterday used to be able to sit in the lounge and surf away using my wireless connection, now I find that my laptop will not connect, or if it does the connection 'drops out'. I have'nt changed any settings or done anything different than usual, any ideas anyone?.
ps on checking the belkin wireless router upstairs it does appear to be quite hot, would this affect anything, the computer is never switched off.

Have this occassionally with my wireless laptop. Connects through a Netgear router. Downpowered the router for a few seconds and then all OK again. Would be surprised if it was a temp related issue. No real reason for it and nothing tampered with, just sometimes loses its connection.

probably find someone else nearby is using the same channel, try changing channels on both the machine and the router

Ta for the info, will try as suggested, there is an unsecured network that keeps coming up that I can connect to without a problem so if need be I'll use that one.

As shugie says, this unsecured network is most likely causing the problems. Most routers default to the same channel so either a) switch over to another channel (choice of 11) or b) cancel the subscription to your ISP and ponce off the neighbour

Although it's cheaper i.e free to scrounge off your neighbour's connection I would certainly just try changing your channel setting as your neighbour could become security wise one day and encrypt their wireless network meaning you would no longer be able to connect

Err, being a computer numpty, how do I change channels on a belkin router without buggering up the settings?
