Wiring up SW Motech electric tank bag

Halfway along the cable there's a big black box which gets in the way of neatly locating the cable. When I undid it I found it contains a 5 amp fuse and something else. Seeing as I'm going to connect the cable to the Centrec fuse box I don't need the fuse.

What's the other black thing. Am I OK in cutting it all off, and if so, which of the four wires should be connected to the fusebox.

Looks like a relay - google the part number or go to the Omron website to find out for sure:nenau
 
I also had it fitted to a Centech panel but I left the black box in place and ziptied it to the upper frame - a little fiddly but it worked. I routed the cabling along the LHS of the bike & tank (as you sit on the bike looking forward).
 
Chris: I have a pile of other electrical stuff in this area and I'm looking for a cleaner install if possible.

David: I've done as you suggest, and yes, it IS a relay, but I don't understand the purpose. I thought a relay was in order to detect a current elsewhere in order to switch on the power. In this instance the two cables to the right go to the battery, and all four cables to the left go to the tank bag quicklock support.

Probably the relay terminates current when the lock is in one position (e.g has opened) otherwise the solonoid will still be trying to push and would eventually fail.
 
Its defiantly a relay. The little orange thing on the back is an IN4148 Diode and shorts out any back EMF (spikes) when the power to the relay breaks - this protect transistors or semiconductors used in the switching process. I presume there is a switch in the tank bag to switch it all off? I'd be more inclined to extend the wiring than simply chopping it off and wiring directly in. The chances are the switch provided to switch it on/off will not handle the full current of the circuits.
