I have reported some time ago problem with a side stand getting loose at the point where it is attached to the main frame. I've resolved this using Loctite.
Now however I have discovered that the joint which facilitates ejecting the stand stand has some play. I have tried to tighten it, but seems not possible. There is also the switch responsible for shutting down the engine when side stand is ejected and gear is selected. This switch also seems to have too big play.

could someone give me some comment whether this is the way it should be?

Many thanks.

For something so simple, there is a lot to go wrong.

The stand is held in place by a fairly large bolt. To the rear of this is the switch assembly.

Between the bolt and the side stand/mounting bracket there are two bushes. This is where a lot of the play takes place.

Have a look at this page, it shows you where everything goes.

If the bolt comes loose (they do), it puts pressure on the bushes, they then wear. No amount of tightening will make it right.

The good news is that the parts are cheap and readily available.

Thanks for the advices

I'll inspect the side stand closer. The bushes have probably worn out.

I have had recently some stalling issues with the engine, when on Eurotrip. These were "identified" by dealer in Germany as problem with cooling ventilator. After all I have read on this forum, I am not entirely convinced, that I have received the right diagnosis for my money.

As the side stand switch can also be seed of trouble, I'll better keep an eye on it.

Same problem on mine ,I replaced the bolt and bushes its now back to new.
When fitting you will find the thread on the bolt for the switch retaing nut is very small do not overtighten as it will strip .One of the Bushes has to be knocked out of the frame so you will need a drift of the right diameter, its also easier if you remove the footpeg.Order the small nut as well ,this holds the side stand cut out switch on .The switch has a positioning lug so make sure this lines up with the cut out slot when refitting.Ignor the spring washer in the photo the original is plain. Also you will need the corect torx bit (3/8" drive )for the bolt.
