Drowned my bike out at the weekend. Removed the plugs and pumped water out and it ran fine all the way home. Have since flushed oil, changed filters etc. and now it wont idle.
It seems to be OK when it is stone cold, but after a few minutes it dies. it runs ok if I hold the revs up above 2000, but soon as you let it idle, it dies. It seems to pop back in the airbox as it stalls. Checked plugs, checked all connectors and sprayed with WD40, checked the throttle body rubber etc.
Any idea's?

It sounds like you need to take off the carb and blow out the airways, but just emptying any water out of the floatbowl would be a good idea.

Also, have you checked for water in the airbox?

OK - I'll go back to lurking in the 1150 section ;)

Just signed up to ask about a very similar problem. My 2000 F650GS is doing the same thing (but wasn't drowned) - From Cold it starts and idles fine but soon as its warmed up it just dies... very annoying and dangerous when throttling off coming up to an Island or filtering in central London.

My local (non-BMW) garage seems to think the bike is fine and can't fault it but thats definatly not the case.

Was tempted to take it down to the BMW garage here in London now I'm down here but scared how much it will cost me. lol.
