Won't load images

Using an elderly Compaq laptop, Win 98, 56K modem at 40K bps to access this site - after a short time logged on, the page won't load fully - avatars, images, top banner etc. 'My Computer' says 2.1 GB used, 1.7 free. Have set History to 0, cleared it, dumped Temporary Internet files and defragged HD. Still problem persists. This is the technical limit of my ICT skills. What next?

Images

Check your settings in 'Internet Options' accessed via 'tools' on your browser. Ensure there is a tick next to 'show images' if not click the box to tick it then click OK.

Thanks for that, hops, but maybe I didn't clarify the problem - it starts off OK with imgs etc, but after 10 minutes, stops loading 'em - like a memory problem? Only seems to be this site, downloads imgs from other sites OK
