OK,

So theres probably a similar thread somewhere here...Ive looked but can't see anything on similar lines...

A few weeks ago..I believe I over-filled the GSA with Oil. I was looking for the line on the sight-glass...and it never seemed to appear...so I kept putting more in (after 3K km ride) :augie...Im sure we've all done it :nenau

Anyway, set off for Belgium and after 5 minutes, loss of power & Plumes of white smoke. I bet I looked like "Red-1" of the Red-arrows on full smoke!

OK...Return the bike home. Drop all the Oil...and replace with fresh.3.5 liters with a filter already in place.

Start the engine...fine. Leave it for about 10 minutes (5 or 6 bars on the Temp scale since the last time it only smoked when the engine was warm ??), fine.

2 or 3 times pootling around the block...no-smoke...yes...

Give it some beans...and whoosh...she starts smoking again....

Took her home...on the center and side stand for about another 5 minutes each...smoke disappears.

Other things to note...maybe a small backfire when closing the throttle..and the Oil light "flickers" on low idle...but is gone on high idle.

Tell me its not fecked ...:( and I need to replace the whole blooming engine.

Cheers

Undo the little oil drain under the air box.....there will probably be oil in there.

If there's too much, it's likely to be being taken in through the throttle bodies straight into the engine and being burnt, hence the oil.

You may have blown a seal as well, but fingers crossed you haven't.
