Worn out Grips

I've done 36,000 miles on my GS now and the grips have worn smooth.
I've searched the forum and Nippy Normans site and can't see any refernce to replacing them. Has anyone replaced their grips. Can just the rubber be replaced or does the whole heated assembly need replacing.

telescopic forks then scroll down a bit, looks like you have to buy the whole thing which looks like about 100 quid for both sides.
If you find an alternative let us know, mine are a bit slick
